Walking, sounds simple. It is simple and a great gift from our Creator. It’s medicine and a way to quiet ourselves, turn our thoughts deeper, and allows us to talk with God. Walking is a basic priority of life that is accessible to all of us at all times, until we loose it. Walking involves our mind, body and soul.
How often do we take time to be totally connected to this gift?
After my stay in the hospital, I was told to go home, get well, and exercise. The levels of exercise are vast, as we all know and my question became "what does that look like?" Everything made me tired and I’d quickly run into my friend at the time called “Fatigue." I called it the COVID fatigue. Over time, I realized what exercise was right for me is to simply walk. As I engaged in walking it came back to me that walking is an important medicine for all of us.
I walked multiple times of the day. Sometimes longer and other times less. No matter how far I walked, at this point it didn’t matter if it was 100 steps or 10 minutes, I just did something. Eventually, I ventured on longer walks. And as days went on I continued to walk, sometimes during the day, sometimes at night, cold, hot, fast or slow. I have come to know walking is medicine that we all have access to.
Our body is 80% water. Throw a rock in the pond and watch what the water does.
It ripples and the ripples go on and on. The energy continues to move even though we don’t see the wave. This happens in our bodies when our feet strike the surface we are on. Our feet record everything about that foot strike; Balance, intensity, motion, what we are thinking, what we are feeling and more.
This Season, As you walk, entertain the idea of being connected with your feet.
What is your connection to the ground?
Is your foot strike heavy or light?
Does your foot strike change when your thoughts change?
Finally, pray when you walk. Even if it's for a short time. It's a miracle every time we accomplish a walk. Be thankful for it. All the things that have to happen to keep us in motion!
Put positive healing thoughts in every step.
Let go of all the stuff you want to release and pull in the new.
If you are already walking, experiment with your connection on different surfaces (asphalt, cement, crushed granite, dirt, etc.), record your experiences to remember. It might be surprising what and how much you feel.
