Sleep, Your Way to Health

Updated: Jul 13, 2022

Sleep- Is free and does not cost you money so take advantage of it. Sleep provides valuable recovery and healing benefit for the body. Our body has an internal clock that is in tune with the day and the night. Sleep provides us with the rest that we need so that our energy is always at its best.

During sleep from 10-2am our body goes through physical recovery and from 2-6am our body goes through mental emotional recovery. For optimal recovery and health it is important to have a regular sleep time and wake time. Going to bed at 10 pm and waking at 6 am will give you 8 hours of sleep.

Prepare yourself for sleep by turning the lights off/down, electronics (especially those tablets and phone) at least 1- 2 hours before bed will prepare your body for sleep. Here are some more ways that you can choose from to help improve your sleep.

  • Eat the right quality food and enough meals

  • Dim the lights at 8 pm or when the sun goes down

  • Use candles or indirect lamps

  • Finish screen time at 8 pm to avoid blue light exposure

  • Self Myofascial Release, Mobilize, or stretch before bed

  • Meditation

  • Journaling

  • Bedtime tea

  • Develop a bedtime routine

  • Hot bath with salt or essential oils

  • In bed by 10 pm

  • Read a book after 8 pm

Choose one of the above to implement into your daily life and be consistent. You will start to feel the difference as you become more consistent. Sleep is when our body and our brain recovers. Making a consistent practice of this will leave you feeling revived and refreshed in the morning! Adequate amounts of sleep will maintain your energy so that you can successfully live your dream!
